Have these ready before you apply

You upload everything in the driver app — photos or PDFs, as long as they're clear and easy to read.

Your car decides your ride class

When you register, you pick your car's make, model and year. Its type decides which ride class you're offered trips in: Economy, Comfort or VIP.

How to join

From download to your first trip

    Download Local Link Driver

    Get the driver app free on Google Play.

  2. 2

    Sign in with your mobile number

    We send you a one-time code by SMS — no password to remember.

  3. 3

    Add your details and your car

    Your name and the area you'll drive in, then your car's make, model, year, colour and number plate.

  4. 4

    Upload your photos and documents

    Six photos of your car and clear copies of the documents listed above.

  5. 5

    We review your application

    Our team checks your documents and vehicle. You can follow your application's status in the app, and we'll tell you if anything needs fixing.

  6. 6

    Go online and start driving

    Once you're approved, tap Online and trip requests start coming in.

Questions drivers ask

You register the car you'll drive, with its registration papers and six photos. It needs to be a car you can legally drive and carry passengers in.

Yes. A Professional Driving Permit (PDP) is required, together with a valid driver's licence.

Yes. You go online when you want to take trips and offline when you're done. There are no shifts.

Yes. Each request shows the fare, the pickup distance and the trip length, and you can accept or decline it.

Cash trips are paid to you in cash by the rider. Card and wallet trips are added to your Local Link balance, which you withdraw to your South African bank account once it reaches the minimum payout.

An Android phone with mobile data and GPS. The Local Link Driver app is on Google Play; the iPhone version is coming soon.

We review applications as quickly as we can. You can see your status in the app, and we'll let you know if a document or photo needs to be redone.

In the areas we currently serve: Greater Tzaneen, Greater Letaba, Phalaborwa, the Capricorn region and Randburg. The live coverage map shows the latest.
